Bisoprolol - what a difference 1.25 mgs makes!

Since an angioplasty a while back to insert three stents I've been on a cocktail of medication to reduce the strain on my heart, one of which has been 5mg daily of bisoprolol, a beta blocker, to slow down my heart rate. It has also made me incredibly tired, so much so that I've often had to take an afternoon snooze when I'm plummeted into such a deep sleep that a nuclear explosion wouldn't wake me and then I've woken up feeling pretty rough for half an hour or so.

Having lived with it for 15 months, and with the agreement of my cardiologist, since the start of this week I've reduced the doseage to 3.75 mgs - what a difference!! No more tiredness, no more afternoon snoozes. I feel a hundred times livelier, I have much more energy, I'm more alert, my concentration is improved, I'm sleeping better at night, I'm laughing more (so much my O/H reckons I've overdosed on blue Smarties) and I'm achieving more each and every day. No unwanted side effects either.

I thought I'd share this in case anyone else is facing an angioplasty.

5mg is a high dose. I had two ops two years ago and had five stents fitted. I'm on the standard daily cocktail of Aspirin 75mg, Bisoprolol 1.25mg, Ramipril 5mg and Atorvastatin 80mg. Apart from adjusting the Ramapril, same dose from day one and don't have any really noticeable side effects. I do get tired in the evenings, but that is about all.

I find this thread interesting as I too am on bisoprolol.
A daily tablet of 10 mg with no side effects at all. But unlike the OP and the next post
do not have stents but do have atrialfibrilation hence the drug to help with the pulse rhythm.
I'm 64 overweight and don't do much exercise but I'm never tired during the day and run my
own engineering business.
Whether or not you get symptoms from bisoprolo must be down to why you were given them
in the first place. I think.
