Currently sitting with my eyes watering after a bit of a choking episode from merely swallowing and a bit of saliva going down the wrong way. My partner's currently on a flight half way across Europe and the flat downstairs is completely empty as it's up for sale.

So if you start choking and you're on your own what's the best way to deal with it?

This is PH, shouldn’t you have a dedicated servant for choking duties?

You can do a DIY Heimlich manoeuvre if you get a blockage by throwing yourself/diaphragm zone onto a suitably sturdy edge.

Not sure what to do if your own spit decides to do you in, though.

I know that you can do the heimlich maneuver on the edge of a table, don't think it works on dribble though...

That isn't choking. If it's saliva it's laryngospasm. The trachea can be blocked by an object like beef steak, but not by a liquid.

As has been said, you can self Heimlich, but it's for trapped solid objects.

I do. However she wouldn't be of help in this particular situation.
