Prostate cancer deaths overtake those from breast cancer

The number of men dying from prostate cancer has overtaken female deaths from breast cancer for the first time in the UK, figures show.
An ageing population means more men are developing and dying from the disease.
Prostate Cancer UK says advances in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer are paying off, and increased funding could benefit prostate cancer.
I'm sure that we have all encountered a female in our social circle who has been afflicted by breast cancer. It strikes me that (sadly) the treatments now extend life for those living with the illness rather than actually curing the disease. Prostate cancer can have a higher survival and cure rate but doesn't get anywhere near the funding of breast cancer.
Is it now time to divert funding to the prostate cancer research instead of breast cancer?

I happened to read this thread about 30minutes ago, sitting in my work car park now and see this roll up
At least awareness is trying to be raised, I don't think it'll ever get to the level of breast cancer (which effects more younger girls rather than older men) but there are groups out there trying contribute.

My father is one of the many afflicted by this. It's good to see it getting more awareness. Comparing it to breast cancer, they are in the same league of awfulness. It's not as visible as a mastectomy, but chances are you are left impotent and / or incontinent.
A simple thing but I find it hard to take it the fact that my dad will no longer be choosing to go for a pee, ever (stoma fitted following prostate + bladder removal) at less than 70.
