Eye problem diagnosis requested

My next door neighbour has a problem with his eye which he noticed first while shaving yesterday morning. It doesn't hurt apparently, he's aware of a very slight discomfort. He figured it would go away on its own but today it's still there and about the same. He doesn't want to spend 12 hours in the waiting area at Stoke Mandeville casualty (if that's what they still call it) and I don't want to have to volunteer to drive him there if it's going to get better on its own.

I had that about a year ago, woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and frightened the life out of myself, all the white of my left eye was blood red.Went to Moorfields Eye Hospital in City Road, London, which was no mean feat, as it was Marathon Day, and we live on the route.
Couldn’t drive there, as all roads were closed for the race, so had to fight our way through the crowds to Rotherhithe Station, scaring little kids on the way.
After maybe 90 minutes, an ophthalmologist told me that it was a burst blood vessel, which is no doubt layman’s language for what you said.
I was on a blood thinner, for arrhythmia, and he said that a cough or sneeze could do it, but very often there’ll be no obvious cause.
It took around two weeks to fully clear, and go back to white again, but it didn’t affect my sight.

Sees his neighbour, who can’t be bothered to take him to the doctor, nor seems able to google it either.
But despite this truly amazing lack of, well, everything, the neighbour asks on a car forum for views which are very likely to be medically unqualified.
I’m not a doctor, but can pretty much guarantee that an eye doctor reading this thread would say that it is probably X, might be Y, but he ought get himself to see a doctor.
Which he would, if only he could be arsed.

Sorry, I thought there was something vaguely negative about your user name, but had forgotten you, hence my confusion.
But to respond to the points you raise-
Seeing a doctor isn't straightforward on a bank holiday Saturday, and has been mentioned on a recent thread, A&E depts aren't good places to get prompt diagnoses for conditions which probably aren't emergencies.
You would obviously be surprised just how many health care professionals including doctors are on Pistonheads, it isn't only about cars.
