Broken or just bruised foot?

Seems strange coming to pistonheads for advice but it’s somewhat car related as I’ve just finished a clutch change, tidied my tools away and as I walked off went over on my ankle as I stepped just off the edge of an inch raised slab. It’s my outer foot that’s come off the worst my ankle is fine. I’ve got no pain at all if I’m resting but can’t bear weight or walk on it. I’m a bit reluctant to go and waste a&e time for a bruised foot. Pics are straight after and next day..

Get down to A&E that looks broken to me.
I am speaking as someone who may have incurred a San Miguel injury looking something similar on holiday in Spain many years ago. ( Missed bottom step on a spiral staircase.)
A State Registered Nurse in our group declared it a simple sprain and I got buggar all sympathy but lots of hopalong jokes for the next two weeks. Couldn't walk too well either.
Ayear later i visited a hospital to see my father and took the opportunity of a sparcely used A&E dept to ask if ithe still painful injury was a break. Well it was, they could do nothing now as it had healed, and its still painful.

Wowser that looks awful, I'd get to A&E ASAP if I were you.
Reminds me of my daughter when she broke her ankle at after school club, the wife worked there too, she told her to sit down and stop being a drama queen, couple of hours later she comes home, leaves my daughet in the car and asks me to pop out to have a look.
Her ankle was huge and a funny colour, off to A&E we went and sure enough it was broken,the wife felt a tad guilty!

Bloody hell, that looks awful.
Last year I walloped the side of my foot good & proper. It really hurt. I strapped it up and "manned up" but some months later it still hurt so I went to get it looked at. Turns out I had indeed cracked it at the time and it had healed but had set off arthritic pain, which I still have now. Get yours seen to.

Well currently sat in a&e with an estimated wait of at least 1-2 hours just to be seen so thought I’d check in here. I’m so out of touch with the NHS as the last time I came here was about 15 years ago but they seem massively under staffed. If I didn’t need to get it looked at for work reasons I’d have left by now.

That's broken. Don't waste your or the hospitals time going in, they'll just tell you to rest it. Put a lot of salt in a bowl of cold water and keep your foot in it for an hour it will bring all the bruising out.
At least you didn't do this!I hope you didn't drive in, it's a bugger driving home in plaster.
The wait is now 4-5 hours for people just coming in! I’ve seen the nurse who is already stressed an hour into her night shift. I said I felt bad coming in and she said there’s people here that shouldn’t be. After speaking to the rather attractive x ray woman she’s told me it is broken! Need to wait for a doctor to confirm now and get a sick note.

you are wrong, but then again this is PH ... you haven't examined the foot in question so you can;t make that determination.
Urgent care / minor injuries is just the place that the OP should be going
