Has anyone used the http://magazine.bkool.com/index.php/2017/11/01/bko... or the wattbike atom https://wattbike.com/gb/product/atom ? how do they compare to traditional spin bikes? Are the apps motivating and engaging?

I’ve had a few mins on the watt bike atom. Very nice

As for apps, zwift is the one that seems to engage best for many - gamification they say. Races, training, scenery etc.

TrainerRoad or sufferfest for purer training perhaps

It isn’t that either is better than a spin bike, but the connectivity into an app like zwift can make the whole experience better. The road goes up, it gets harder. Want to ride at particular power levels? It does that.

Wattbike is very good but a smart turbo trainer and a half decent bike to put on it could be had for less

I use the wattbike pro at our gym rather than the standard spin bikes. It's night and day difference in terms of effort and output. For me, the wattbike is much more consistant, gives real time feedback and generally nicer to train on (albeit a lot harder work)
