All,

I am having my first eye test since moving back to the UK - I want to order some new glasses as I am down to my last pair and would like a different frame and a spare pair too.

I just booked into my regular optician, I have been going for circa. 20 years now, and I when I asked whether it was possible to order frames online and buy the lenses through the optician, I was flatly refused.

Is this normal in the UK? In the USA - when I showed up with my frames, it was never a problem, they were appreciative that I had bought the lenses through the optician and not online as well.

Anyone else have any experience in this field?

Surely that just encouraged you to take their offer of a test, then buy both framrs and lenses online?

I use a small family owned Opticians & whilst my latest pair, that I need to collect, are all new they have put new lenses in old frames for me & my MiL.

I would also suggest trying an alternative Optician, but not a chain.

Thank you guys, much appreciated.

I am disappointed - this has been my optician for approx. 20 years, but looks like it's time to find a new optician.

That's what I am worried about.
