Single Seizure

Hello,
Long time lurker, first time posting.
I'm in a bit of a weird DVLA grey area at the moment. I had a single seizure back in early May that was not epileptic and as it occurred two days before a scheduled bowel resection (which was delayed four days) I was admitted to hospital and quickly shoved under the MRI scanner.
MRI results were fine. Nothing out of the ordinary and the neurologist gave a clean bill of health and ticked the NHS box saying I was OK to have major surgery and a general.
I've had two bowel resections in six months which have removed about 1.2m of small bowel between them. I was very ill before the May surgery - effectively I was on a liquid diet and not much of it was getting in. MY first resection back in September 2017 also removed my terminal ileum which is where you absorb all the vitamins and minerals from your food. Without it I need constant blood monitoring and occasional B12 etc. injections.
Everyone is fairly certain the seizure was caused by extreme malnutrition (I had scurvy for a while due to a total lack of Vitamin C absorption. The pirate jokes are still on going!) and with the MRI results epilepsy is not an option and there is considered a extremely low chance of this happening again.
Now I've been a good little boy and surrendered my driving license. DVLA have had it for three weeks now and I still have a full license according to the gov.uk checking tool. I called DVLA Medical nine days ago who confirmed receipt of my license, surrender document and a week later my medical questionnaire now I have a named neurologist. A case has been opened and I was assured they'd send me a letter last week to confirm. They haven't!
I'm not seeing a neurologist until late July - three months after the seizure which shows how concerned they are! I've been told it's a box ticking exercise. They need to see me once as an outpatient to close the file.
Just about all the information I can find about seizures is in regards to epilepsy or booze/drugs. Neither of which apply to me.
Has anyone else gone through something like this? I understand the reason for a six month "ban" and that surrendering is far better than continuing to drive for the past two months and then have the DVLA revoke it.
My extremely unlikely best case is the neurologist will say I'm fine to drive given the circumstances that caused the seizure were unique. I understand if that happens I quickly send my application back off to the DVLA and when they sign for the recorded delivery I can start driving again whilst they process it as I was a "surrenderer" rather than a "revokee".
I assume the worst case is I'm told to wait until the end of the six months which is early November, but to apply in early September which is eight weeks before the "ban" expires.
Any ideas?! Help!
