A few years ago I had a seizure in work, I don`t remember much of it just being in and out of awareness for some time after I had come to. Had scans and tests done, and they put it down to stress from work, as the place was slowing down and my job was in jeopardy. Told to relax, take a few weeks off and not dwell on what happened.
About a year or so after same thing happened again, only this time I was crossing a road and no idea who stopped to help and call an ambulance, same thing with being away with the fairies for a while. More tests done and still nothing found. At this time I decided to take a break from working in the motor trade as I was putting myself and others at risk if something happened and not driving for the same reason. That was a big kick in the stomach for me as I`ve been around the motor trade all my life and worked in it for best part of 15 years.
Fast forward a year and happens again this time on a footpath and not in the middle of a road (slight improvement). Hospital by this stage are getting concerned as I`m in a dazed and confused state for longer each time it happens, they still can`t find anything so transfer me to another.
Second hospital do the same tests but same results in not finding anything, eventually decide to do a sleep deprivation test and it gets result of a seizure. Same confused state follows and I had a security guard by my room as I had tried to walk out to go home a few times. Saying goodbye see you tomorrow with no idea what was going on. They go with epilepsy put me on medication and more time off driving.
That seemed to be working as nothing happened for 12 months apart from changing medication due to side affects. So back driving, and back to the motor trade, 7-8 months in and everything is going great so decide to take a leap recently and go for a more senior position in another dealership. Not very well run or organised in terms of training and me starting to get stressed out because I`m not happy with the way it`s going.
A couple of weeks ago I was driving home and came too just long enough to realise I was in an ambulance and it happened again. We were still on the side of the road so I jumped out to see what happened car or if anyone was involved and luckily there wasn`t. It seems like I was aware and pulled in but I don`t know what happened.
The hazy memory kind of takes doctors by surprise because I`m talking with them, and it`s like my brain kicks in and I have to ask who they are and don`t know we were just talking ,each time that confusion lasts a bit longer. Now back to not driving and had to pack in job because of the travel and not happy with the training. Going back in for more tests and doctors are now questioning the decision they made about epilepsy but have no idea what could be causing it. Stress seem to be the common key with them but it was never an issue until a few years ago especially in the motor trade with every day being a stressful one
Not sure why I`m posting this but it might cheer me up or someone may have experienced similar and share their story or advice on the matter.

I have had 2 seizures now, 1st was December 2017.
I was in bed and remember sitting bolt upright in bed as if I had terrible cramp all over my body. I distinctly remember looking at my arms and they were on fire.
The next thing I know there were two paramedics in the bedroom trying to calm me down as I was confused and about to kick off, it was terrifying, for me and even worse for wife.
Taken to hospital, all sorts of tests done and then went to see the Neurologist. Essentially I have had a brain defect since birth which normally is ok but in times of severe tiredness, stress etc gives me jolt.
I was put on Lamatogine for 6 months but came off them as I didn't want to stay on them for every. I was told I couldn't drive for a year.
All ok for 6 months and I had applied for my driving license and it was due soon, and then collapsed again in the bathroom whilst brushing my teeth. Back to the Neurologist, I can't drive again for another year and then put straight back on the Lamotrogine.
It is a bit of a bugger but could be worse. Luckily for me I got a new job last year which means I can walk to work.
I have had a bit of dealings with the DVLA so I may be able to help.

First one was the worse as I split my head on the bedside cabinet, radiator and bit through my tongue - plenty of blood which was pretty shocking for my wife.
I had loads of scans and checks but they couldn't really find anything wrong or any triggers. I was put on Tegratol Retard - but stopped again after about ten months. I have been fit free for 12 years now.
I was banned from driving for almost 17 months (needed to be fit free for 12 months clear).
Although the doctors never confirmed this I thought my diabetes was the root cause rather than Epilepsy. After each fit my blood sugar was 'normal' and so my diabetes was not deemed to be the cause. I had changed my insulin regime at the time and after the third fit I changed it back (all under the guidance of my GP). Strangely the fits stopped??
