Discussion
Back in May I was involved in an accident which resulted in a car being parked on my shoulder and upper chest for a while. I was taken to hospital at the time and whilst I mentioned my shoulder pain they were focused upon my leg and after having a feel was told to just rest it and it would get better.
A short time later I went back to the GP because my leg was worsening and my shoulder still hurt. Again my leg took the focus and I was sent to hospital with a suspected blood clot so didn't get the chance to discuss my shoulder properly.
I'm waiting on an appointment to see the GP again as my shoulder is actually starting to hurt a little more. It's not agony generally, more just a dull ache, but for example during a recent trackday I really struggled with shifting my weight around partly due to my shoulder hurting (and partly due to having not-so-great knees).
In the interim does anyone have any advice as to what might help with my shoulder short of dosing myself up with copious amounts of painkillers? I suspect the GP will just refer me to physio meaning in total it'll be a few months before I actually get to see anyone, so if I can get the started myself it might be helpful.

Any numbness, tingling, areas where there's no sensation?
I use a Tens machine, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Classic-TENS-Machine-Effe... by Body Clock.
It is not a treatment but it kills a lot of the pain. It seems to confuse your body. Best of it is that there's no drugged up feeling.
I use it if I have problems going to sleep due to back pain. It numbs feelings to the extent that it is manageable. The one shown has a timer which means you can leave it on as it will switch off after an hour. The plastic sliders over the controls is a very good idea, believe me.
If my pain is really bad I use it during the day. It looks a bit odd with wires running hither and lither, but who cares?
It's great on chronic pain. If it's really bad you can turn it up high enough to leave a mark.
I use pads from Boots. They had two ranges, the more expensive can be washed and used repeatedly.
Best of luck.

I plan to. Getting an appointment, then a physio appointment may take a few months though, hence asking for other advice.
I wouldn't even waste your time going to see GP, prob will tell you to come back in six weeks before he even takes it seriously.A physio appoinment should diagnose it for between £25-60 depending on area.
I injured my left shoulder back in April and at times it has been very uncomfortable, preventing me from driving my Riley for a few months. I went to see my practice physio who suggested some exercises and the 'shoulder class' at a local hospital. I'd been there before and didn't rate it, everyone did the same exercises irrespective of their injury.
Instead I rested my shoulder and used a Tens machine but my mains powered one is a bit cumbersome. I bought one of these (link below), not expecting it to be much good but it is brilliant and so convenient. I can use it any time at my desk, slip the unit in my pocket and control it with my phone. It really works too, yesterday I used it for half an hour as my shoulder was particularly painful, afterwards it was pain-free and still is this morning.
