I have golfers elbow, as a result of weight training. When I'm not using the arm, the pain is non existent, but, if I grip anything the least bit heavy, I have a serious burning on the inside of the joint.

Are there any remedies for this?

Rest isn't much of an option, because of my job.

As someone who has picked up and managed (if not always well) rsi pain in arms/elbows from using CAD 8 hours a day with a 3D joystick and mouse I can recommend a good physio.
I thought they where for people who had been in bad accidents or 'sporty types' who had egos bigger than there problems, but I had one that really helped for a year or so, got discharged (because what they did worked) and then later when i came back got another the was more local, but didnt really help at all, keep bookings etc, nightmare.

A flex bar for sure.

I personally found stretching my biceps and triceps and foam rolling helped a lot. You may find your muscles are tight and putting excessive tension on your tendons.

You could also try self massaging it to encourage blood flow to the area. That worked for me in the short term.

I wouldn’t recommend you stop doing weights but I would recommend you find exercises and weight levels that don’t aggravate it.

I can dig out links for you later if you’d like with various recommendations.

Stretch - there are some good videos on YT about dealing with it and tennis elbow.

I am trying the stretches, no relief so far.

I’m still training, I can live with the pain, as it’s only when in use, otherwise there’s no discomfort at all. But, what might the long term implications?

Is it something that could be treated by a cortisone injection?

I meant to dig out the links for you but my advice is to not push trough the pain as it will only get worse if you keep compounding the damage. Tendons heal slowly and no one wants to have to live with chronic pain.

Here’s something to get you started - http://stevenlow.org/overcoming-tendonitis/

Also what stretches are you doing? Are you doing them cold? Have you tried foam rolling?

Currently, I’m spending quite a bit of time stretching it, by bending my hand backwards, by pushing it against a solid object, something I can do whilst driving.

Try stretching your triceps and biceps.

I had it bad over a couple of years. Tried everything even Cortisone jabs but it always came back. Was talking to a golf pro and he recommended acupuncture. I had about 10-12 sessions with him and all was cured and it never came back. The guy explained that all he was doing was aiding natural healing by getting heat into the joint and pulsing the muscles that were connected to the tendons/bones. Worked for me whats to lose?
