I seem to have this lovely condition at the moment, shooting pain, numb left foot, left arm not feeling right, zero strength and feeling rather sorry for myself, doctor has given me Co codamol, diazepam, naproxen and amitriptyline.

Any advise or help as to getting myself better and back to work soon?

Thanks

Nick

I doubt that sciatica would affect your left arm...wrong end.
Your sciatic nerves (one each side) are the thickest in the body,
they're about the thickness of your little finger.
The cause is often a disc prolapse. Discs don't slip anywhere, despite
the term. The outer part of a disc is a tough, fibrous ring, there's a jelly-like
substance inside. The fibrous ring can bulge or may split, letting the jelly poke out.
Whatever's protruding leans on the sciatic nerve on that side - you can get a mixture
of pressure and toxicity from the jelly.

I've had sciatica (a.k.a. 'The Three-foot toothache' ) for years and it can't be fixed now.

If the pain's bad, you'll probably get an MRI scan. It was my L5/S1 disc that let go. This
is the lowest lumbar disc and it sits just above the top sacral vertebra.

SOmetimes, physio aimed at the core can help a lot but above all, don't just put up
with it - think, 'The later the worse.'

The arm isn’t a issue now, I think I might of slept funny on that, I have tried the tablets today and they do seem to be helping, I can sit down for longer than two minutes now without jumping with paid, physio booked for tomorrow privately as the doctor told me min of 3 weeks wait!
