My girlfriend goes to a private dentist, who is root filling a tooth she has on upper left side near the back, at the first appointment she felt pressure beneath her left eye and suffered a nose bleed and said she could taste a chemical bleach like taste running down the back of her nose and throat the dentist said that he had gone through the tip of the root, after nosebleed and discomfort for a few days she got better the tooth settled and yesterday she returned to the same dentist for round two of the root canal treatment where the dentist explained that rather than the standard 3 roots she had 2 that had fused together and that where it should be 21mm long it was only 17mm etc. again in the appointment she felt pain and pressure and the dentist said he had gone round the tip and it was leaking fluid and he couldn’t dry it out, and she could taste bleach again so put in another temporary dressing and she suffered a nosebleed and an allergic type reaction in her nose and sinus area and a great deal of discomfort and pain, is this a common occurance with root canals? The dentist said that her roots are next to/touching her sinus so it sort of makes sense, or does this dentist not know what he’s doing or talking about? On both occasions the dentist has called her after the appointment to check she was ok, can you get a 2nd opinion on dentists?
Funnily enough I had a root canal yesterday (on my birthday) and it was painless. However I've had them before and they weren't.
They're difficult things to do, my current dentist explained how hard to get everything. Go too deep and break through, don't go deep enough and don't solve the problem.
It's look of the draw to a certain extent as tonhow easy they are.
Not sure what a second opinion would give you except more stress and worry, let the guy get it finished
The metallic taste could be the anaesthetic as that what it tastes like to me.
