The Missus swears by these but I've always been in denial with herbal remedies.

Anybody else use them ?

I could do with calming down myself at times too

Not for me, but I'm probably too calm normally anyway to notice any difference. I took them to try to sort out insomnia but had to use something stronger.

My daughter used them for when she had her GCSE's, they seemed to help but I think it was more psychological more than anything else.

I get that and i think lots of these type things are.

I'm going to give them a bash, get them in my system and see if it helps.

Anyone else tried Anxiety remedies ?

I'd advise trying mindfulness meditation unless advised by a doctor to take pills. Just sit there and focus on your breath for a while everyday.

I did try this and found it relaxed me . The App was called 'Headspace'

Weird how there is no warning from one day to the next when i will get consumed with it. I think if i understood the reason better then i could try prevention better rather than looking for a cure

Well, certainly, there may be underlying issues that are triggered or things just get overwhelming, even if there are no underlying issues. We have a limit as to how much we can take and that varies from person to person depending on circumstances and life history. You could run away or quit your job but that might be inconvenient, impractical or may still not solve the problem!

I notice you said "did" and "relaxed" - past tense. The thing about mindfulness is that, like brushing your teeth, you need to do it regularly to reduce decay stress or anxiety and keep you in a better place mentally. It helps to improve your long term resilience as well as having an immediate calming effect.

Good advice thank you.

Yes i said 'did' as i had a go a while back then abandoned it.

I'm assuming you are a regular subscriber to Mindfulness yourself?

When do you tend to do it , prior to bed maybe ? Always made me sleepy which i guess is the point.

Y'day i was all over the place with no warning. Today after a couple fo Kalm tablets i feel better but that may be nothing more than coincidence

I train people in stress reduction, part of that includes mindfulness training. smile

As to when to do it, try at different times of the day, stick to short sessions eg 2 minutes, just to get you into it (unless you're an all or nothing person, if so do a 30 minute meditation!! smile ).

Regular meditation practice is the single best thing you can do for your mind. It completely changes your outlook of the world. Things that once brought about stress and anxiety no longer seem in the least bit important. It also improves your relationships with people and nature hippy

I have suffered from constant anxiety which ranges from a liveable inconvenience to crippling, ever since i was a kid, depending on how much is on top of me at the time.

I've heard CBT can help, but getting that through the NHS takes forever...smoking (not cigarettes) has helped me through some bad patches in the past...but in a recent severe bout of anxiety that lasted about 3 months I didn't have that access and it was a really tough slog to get through it, kalms etc didn't help...panic attacks most nights and getting through the day to day was pretty hard...it started to slide into depression for a few weeks.

Anxiety is a very personal thing, I know my triggers so I try really hard to avoid situations that bring it on, but life often has other ideas. I married a psychologist, which has helped a lot...it's a lot easier when the people close to yopu actually understand what anxiety is and how it affects someone.

Highly recommended. Made me a much kinder and happier person. I also now care much more about other people’s happiness and wellbeing. Even strangers! hippy

It does take time to see real, long lasting changes, but practice makes perfect thumbup

Kenny, what do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking? Is it stressful work?

I work in software and yes it can be stressful, but meditation helps to remind me that the sun is always shining above the clouds biggrin
