I had a virus about 6-8 weeks ago, it lingered for ages. Was somewhere between a cold and the flu. It pretty much cleared up but a week ago a cough has reappeared and its fking awful. I coughed so hard yesterday I retched and threw up.

I am pretty sure its post nasal drip as there is a lot of gunk. Wondering if I should go to the Dr though. I don't have a fever or any other symptoms really, got a headache but that's from coughing so much, so I don't think its anything worse, or bacterial.

Drs is only open till 1:30 tomorrow. Don't want to take an appointment if they are just going to say its viral. At the same time, don't want to end up at the walk in centre on boxing day and wait for 5 hours to be seen

Don't want to panic you but....

It could be just snot or it could be a spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid leak. That is brain juice leaking out of your schnozzer.

It is probably just snot.

Headache was the clue. scratchchin

I'd imagine that brain snot would be a bit more salty than snot snot. Does it taste salty?

PND is something I have suffered from for years, made worse when I landed on my face at 40mph on a mybike.

Doc prescribed Avimis, which is a steroid spray and that helped after about 2 months.

I too get the cough, and with all the training I do, it is debilitating - coughing to point of chucking my ring at times.

Just had FESS - micro surgery to correct the broken biking nose and open my nasal passages and clear the sinuses. Still healing but it has already made a world of difference.

I would see your GP and at least get a steroid course, then consider the surgery in due course. It's not that painful, just means a few weeks of sleep apnea and Cheyne Stokes at night, so bugger all sleep.
