which water filter jug - brita style or zero water

Hi - anyone got the above or have any comments?

brita one looks nicer and has cheaper cartridges but zero water claim to remove all dissolved solids.

question is do you need to remove everything or is a little good for you?

I wouldn't bother personally - Why would you want to filter perfectly drinkable water through a bacteria breading ground?

I use a Brita filter as the water in my area is extremely hard. I like the jug design of the proper Brita units and I buy the genuine carts in bulk when they're on offer (Argos recently had a 3-pack for £11 for example).

As for the bacteria comment, I can't say it's ever been an issue for me - I use it so frequently that there's never any water left sitting in it for any length of time and I usually get around 3-4 weeks' use from each cart.

IIRC, it's a subject that gets dragged up occasionally. The septics did a test a few years back and found that if you left the jug out of the fridge for 6 months it would grow bacteria. As you've realised, the rest of us don't have a problem. But it's a good scare story.
