Warm foot that comes and goes.

Hello.
Not sure if anyone may be in the know, or experienced anything like this, but for the past 2 weeks I've been intermittently experiencing the sensation of warmth to the outside center of my left foot.
The heat comes and goes after a couple of seconds and only appears to be localised in that one area of my foot. There is no discomfort or pain, and the heat can only be described like the brief feeling of warm water - Happens about 20 times a day and doesn't matter whether I'm on my feet, or relaxing on the sofa.
Any Ideas what could be causing this?
