Anyone ever had this happen?
Discussion
So on Tuesday my wife managed either to give her self food poisoning or picked up a Nast stomach bug. Roll on Friday and it seemed it was my turn.
Never, in my life have I produce so much fluid! I filled half a bucket with chunder on the first round! I won’t comment on what was coming out the other end. I hate vomiting. It’s the worst. I hate the feeling, the wretching, the convulsions. I hate how it makes you feel seriously out of breath. But this time, all that paled into insignificance with what happened after each bout of head in bucket.
Muscles in my arms and hands basically decided to cramp up. They contracted at full force, curling my fingers into my hands, my hands into my forearms, and my arms up to my chest. Muscles in my face tried To do the same, making it hard to speak. I got severe pins and needles in my legs. If I wasn’t already on the ground, I would have been as I couldn’t stand!
Christ on a bike, the pain. I’ve never experienced anything like it. Clenched as tight as possible for 10-15minutes at a time. And this happened 4 or 5 times. My wife had to slowly unfurl my limbs and massage the muscles to get it to stop and she was having trouble pulling against the force of my muscles.
It felt like my arms were on fire. Or what I imagine being electrocuted is like. My arms felt bruised and sore the next day. The region just below the thumb felt like someone had been at it with a hammer.
To be honest, it was pretty scary. I have no idea why it happened and I am now sat desperately hoping the sick bug has gone away because I don’t want to be sick again and have to go through that!

ouch...some bug and a half. muscle contractions could be a result of sodium/sugars imbalance as everything was held in your tummy prior to hucking up? if coming out of rear end like a steam train then large intestine probably didn't get a chance to absorb fluid meaning you ended up massively dehydrated and low on blood sugars. right now you need to get your cells back to an isotonic state so fluid intake a must to avoid low blood pressure and all the issues that comes with dehydration?

Reading around, does seem like it could be lack of electrolytes. Probably all summoned to the core to squeeze my stomach for me leaving none for anywhere else. I had been training earlier in the day and it was all flat out efforts. Probably left me low on salt.Presume this also why my heart, though the rate seems ok, feels like it’s beating out of my chest?
I’m drinking water with those electrolyte tablets in and sipping a bit of original lucozade as well. I need to eat something decent but the thought of that just makes me feel ill. I can do a mouthful of fluid and then have to rest 15 minute for the “about to chuck up” feeling to subside!
I’ve lost about 2kg in two days.

low BP will be normally mean raised heart rate as your heart has to work harder to get blood around the body due to lower systolic pressure in the aortic artery.. if beats per minute is >100, its referred to as tachycardia. not ideal. normal hr is 60-100. yes to your fluid intake and then some. doubt solids are on the cards just yet. if someone can take your pulse, worth doing. suggest using your radial - count how many beats in 10 seconds and multiply by 6 for an approx BPM. keep legs raised too at the moment, will help bp.
