86 sharp as anything.
Walked over to us this afternoon absolutely fine, showing me stuff on her ipad, ordering a pot from amazon, discussing politics and TV etc.
Phoned about an hour ago, couldn't remember how to turn th TV on. Explained which remote to use. Thought nothing of it we all have brain freeze. Just phoned and said what's my dogs name I want to call her in!
What could happen so quickly? Or is just a case of keep an eye on her?
I'm familiar with dementia, no other signs up until now.

From what you've said, sharp as a nail and then suddenly confusion has set in. Could be a number of things but considering her age, a GP appointment is bottom of the list.
Go over there, and be prepared to call 999.

At the other end of the spectrum and probably just as likely, if not more, is a UTI. Agreed that this lady needs medical attention now though, age is irrelevant hence my asking the OP what would he do. From what you've said, sharp as a nail and then suddenly confusion has set in.
