Having run a lot as a teenager, I then didn’t run at all until a year ago when a parkrun started that was local to me. One thing led to another and I ran my first 10k yesterday completing the Leatherhead Rotary Bluebell run on Headley Heath.

Can’t believe how much I enjoyed it. Lovely trail run a round the heath and I managed to come in under an hour which I was really chuffed with. I’d targeted about 1hr 5 minutes and never thought I’d get under 1 hr.

Still pleased this morning. Was anyone else there?

Well done, that’s a good time! Did you do any training at all or was it just a random decision? I imagine you’ll have many aches and pains today if you’ve not done much recently, haha.

I recently ran 10k which was 3 laps of our local park. It was the first time I’d ran so far and actually ended up doing so by ‘accident’, I was weirdly enjoying the run so thought I’d carry on and do 3 laps (usually 1 or 2) and realised at the end it was 10k.

I’ve been considering going again, but find it a bit tedious running round the same place 3 times.

Does anyone know of any good apps/websites which might have running trails on in your local area? I’m being lazy here and could have probably googled this!

it's addictive!

i ran my first a few years ago at 23 stone....i'm still too big to be a runner (6ft6 215lbs - but now 12% BF!) but try to do about 10 races a year.

just got a PB of 45.44 on my local one this morning - after doing Spartan UK yesterday so very happy!

I think my first 10K took me 1.25!!!!

Well done. I try and do a 10k once a week (never nanaged more, so often 2 5k and one 10k) but never in a race my fastest time was yesterday was 59min 20seconds. Very pleased.

Well done SP

I have been park running for about a year having done nothing between 16 and 48. Looking to step up to 10k, probably one of the trail runs on this website

thats a reat website - every time I have spare weekend in the summer I jump on there and can normally find a run within an hours drive......and mix it up. Good fun to do some trail, some road, some OCR.

Thanks everyone. In answer to an earlier question I do quite a lot of mixed training, using strength and resistance work, circuits, a concept 2, cycling and walking everywhere local as well as running. But I do tend to plod a bit when running, which is why I was so pleased as I managed to go faster. Don’t feel achey today so all good.

Looking for the next one now!
