Recurrent jock itch
Discussion
Bit of an embarrassing one. Been to docs a few times and they give a cream which sorts it out for a few days then it comes back. Been almost constant for a few years and is driving me nuts and I've decided I need to do a something about it. It's really itchy at times and other times barely notice until I have a hot shower.
Can recurrent fungal infections be a sign of something serious? Or an alergy perhaps? Blood tests all normal and no diabetes that I know of.
Do all the right things with good hygeine etc.
Thanks

I would expect the creams that they give you are Daktarin or Daktacourt or something similar. Can recurrent fungal infections be a sign of something serious? Or an alergy perhaps? Blood tests all normal and no diabetes that I know of.

Try ramping up the hygiene, especially if you are bit sweaty round the b
ks. Wash and rinse the area at least twice a day with something strong, such as washing up liquid diluted 50/50 and rinsed thoroughly, dry the area with a soft towel, put the twoel to wash after every use.If you wear boxers stop wearing them and buy jockey shorts, you are looking to create a barrier between your balls and your thighs so that if your balls sweat they are not making the whole area damp in a darkened area.
Good luck, the problem is fixable but I wouldnt rely on the creams.
Go find some Lamsil, tesco or something, treat it continually and keep treating once its gone. Just keep tabs on it after its gone

I had it real bad when i was early 20s, in the space of no time at all without me noticing it it was all over the side of my leg etc. Doctor supplied cream was crap, 1 tube just about got rid then id run out and it would be back again, went through 3 tubes until I used Lamisil and it was gone before the tube was half done. Its come back once or twice over the years but lamsil sorts it quickly.
Ignore the hygene comment above. If you wear cargo pants, jeans etc and have to perform an active job and get hot then theres not much way round it really. Talc with antibacterial properties might help though

Thanks all.
Am good on the hygeine front but always room to improve I guess so shall try that. I've never tried the talc so will definitely give that a go.
I'll look out for lamsil in tesco.
Didn't think of 50/50 washing up liquid lol will try that!!
Nothing inflamed though I do have the odd varicose vein and one or two skin tags, but have always had those...

I have found the cream needs to applied for about a week after symptoms disappear. Otherwise it just comes back.
I have also been using a proper hospital grade antimicrobial wash once a week. Partly for this but also because I had a number of bacterial skin infections. Been fine since.

The goal is to keep the area as dry and clean as possible, wash thoroughly, dry well, medicated talc, ointments if they work for you. I had this problem a long time ago, saw a specialist and he didnt rate the anti fungal creams at all, said they were a food source for the itch!Am good on the hygeine front but always room to improve I guess so shall try that. Hope it gets better soon.
I live in a hot climate (Houston) and ride a bike too.
Here's the story.
I was at a social gathering with a few of the Bandito's MC (don't ask) and naturally thought most of the conversation would be about murder, drug running, shoot outs, hookers etc but no.
Jock itch was the subject. These guys ride around 40,000 miles a year and it gets up to the mid to high 30's here with humidity.
The recommendation was to shave your balls and use this powder. Don't know if you can get it in the UK.

Live & learn, eh?
Tried it, it works

I am your saviour!!!
After trying everything - the answer is Nasocort!!! Some guy from America came up with it as its got some key ingredient in it. Bought some - sprayed it on and hey presto - best its ever been. Literally gone within days. Comes back I you leave it for a few weeks, but out of everything it works!

Try Jockey Sport Trunk Underwear(Amazon et al), these really help move moisture and and act as a barrier between your legs and plums.
