Shoulder joint replacement

Hi, has anyone had, or knows anyone who has had, a reverse shoulder joint replacement? If so, how was the experience, how did the recovery go? How long to be back to normal..did it get back to 'normal'?
It seems that I need this procedure and am keen to hear about others experiences.

My mum had it done, she was in agony for months beforehand, with arthritis.
The GP kept saying “more tablets for you”… Then when she went to see the specialist, there were very strong words relayed back to the GP as to how long my mum had been suffering with nothing being done about it.
It took about 3 months before she was back to functioning normally, that means functioning normally, not functioning without aches/pains. About 6 months before she was “normal” again
It’s a big operation, and it took it out of her, but she was 78 at the time.

My wife had it done 2 years ago. It seems there are a number of variations of joint and results can vary accordingly. Her operation went very well but recovery was a very long road. She was in a sling solidly for 2 weeks and then a further 4 weeks or so when sleeping or moving about.

Basic recovery took about 3 months - we were able to undertake a 3 week trip to Australia at that point - but to get as good as it's going to get took about 9-12 months.

One thing to be aware of (depending on the type of implant l guess) is that mobility and flexibility will not be 100%.

Overall, it was a very painful recovery process and she had a LOT of physio but the results have been excellent - but she believes this is because she really pushed herself (carefully!) with the physio exercises.

good mate of mine went private for a full ti shoulder....about £14k at 0% funnily enough.....

He is happy enough with the results.

Preety had a ball/joint swap over as I understand it.....
