Hi all

I’m clearing my garage to use a new power rack and weights. I run 4 times a week but never do weight training so I am new to this.

Out of the 2 above which would be better? There is a £200 price difference.

The 385 supports 95kg weights whilst the 485 supports 145kg.

I’m wondering if the 385 would be sufficient for my needs?

Thanks

TNJ

Personally, I would go for a lesser known "brand" - you would get something far sturdier for the same money. And I did exactly that - I bought the Hardcastle heavy duty cage for £250 which is rated to 360kg. It looks to be exactly the same as the Mirafit branded one which is about the same price.

The spotter bars are far more sturdy looking than the Bodymax ones and have proven themselves as such with fails on lifts at well over 100kg.

It was a bit of a faff to put it together but I am very happy with it and am convinced that it is a better piece of equipment than the equivalently priced big brand offerings.

The 385 actually supports 150kg and the 485 363kg.

I've got the 385 and it all feels pretty sturdy, I've used weights over 100kg (but not 150kg) with no issues.
I got it because it's narrower, using 6ft barbells, so takes up less room.

That hardcastle one looks good, though!
