Anyone else had twitchy eyelids for an extended period?

My eyelids have been twitchy for weeks and weeks now, it's been both, seems to alternate after a while although pretty sure they were both firing initially.

Reading online seems to suggest it should go away within a few days or weeks but I'm well over that timeline. I suspect it's stress related- although I wouldn't have said I feel too stressed, I started a different job within my company in June and do have a lot more on my plate now even though I much prefer it.

When I was off for 2 weeks in the summer it almost completely stopped, within a couple of days of returning to work it started again...

Starting to feel like Inspector Dreyfus.

Probably stress related.

Might also be linked to lack of potassium in the diet.

I’d say it was a combination of stress/tiredness/lack of sleep. I used to have the same every time I had accountancy exams.

I had the same, Initially both eyes and then a left eye twitch that drove me mad. Even when to the optitions as felt I couldnt focus one eye properly. Turns out the twitchy eye was the slightly better one but vision was fine.

Said twitches lasting a couple weeks are normal and do happen.

I also read about stress etc but could really say I was stressed enough to have eye spasms every couple minutes. sleeps never been great but at the time was better than it had been previously with no twitch.

Eventually mine just disappeared and cant remember much of the period other than how annoying it was. and rubbing it does not help any,.

I had some issues for which I got some cbt/meditation help. One of the mantras was forget to remember and remember to forget the issue.

Sounds facile but when relaxed and taking confidence in it, it really made a difference.

I hope you get some “tools”/help that gets you through as it sounds debilitating. Good luck...

Apparently taking apple cider vinegar can reduce twitches and cramps. Might be worth reading up on.

I get twitchy eyes from time to time, usually stress or similar lasts for weeks then just goes, its odd

Ive got a couple of these for a different eye issue (blocked ducts and discharge) but blimey ive found them the most relaxing thing known to man:
https://www.lenstore.co.uk/other-accessories/thera...

I put it in the microwave for circa 10 seconds then 20 minutes of utter bliss, so relaxing and takes all the stress out my eyes and clears all the ducts and glands of crap (you wouldn't believe all the crap that comes out).

I'll maybe give these a go thanks.

It isn't debilitating, it comes and goes, just gets a bit annoying if it's particularly frequent some days.

Stress. When buying my first house I had this for weeks. The day after I finally moved in it disappeared.

I’ve had this since I was a child, about 35 years now and use to be called a nervous tick or habit. I find it worse when I’m stressed and even worse if it’s hot. I find if I notice I’m doing it that it is really bad. I have also found it can also be a form of Tourette’s without the noise factor. The problem I used to find is when people point out you are doing it, you become more conscious of it and it gets worse. Also if you notice you are doing it and are in public or have to have a meeting or speak in front of people you will tend to do it more as your over thinking it. You will probably find after a while you maybe forget all about it and it will go away. Unfortunately for me it’s one of many ticks I’ve had which I don’t mind having. Most people don’t even notice it.
