Type 1 diabetic of 16 years odd.
As topic title due to have laser treatment in approx 16 hours time.
Have had background retinopathy before but nothing for any concern.
However last check up led to further consultation & treatment is now necessary.
I would say I’m about 4 on the mildly apprehensive to bricking it scale.
Hopefully report back tomorrow with a report if my left eye can see the screen

Treatment involves two different sets of drops to dilate & anaesthetise your eye.
The doctor then checks the position of the offending blood vessel in the back of your eye.
A lens is placed over your eye & stare at the red light & don’t move your eye!
I had about 10-12 tiny microbursts of yellow light to the back of my eye.
Zero pain at all. Zero discomfort. All done in about 10 minutes. I have a check in 3 months to check the results.
I’ve written this to help any piston headers in the future who may face this treatment. Of course you are apprehensive - someone is firing a laser into your eye - but in all honesty a trip to the dentist is worse!

I am a type I diabetic of about 38 years now. (Diagnosed age 7, for context)
I had a lot of laser for retinopathy about 12 years ago. I think the procedures have improved a lot recently (finer, more accurate laser - less pain). The preparation I had was similar - but I had my head put in some sort of vice and needed to hold two posts to control the pain. It was very intense from memory. Sounds like your treatment was far better!
At roughly the same time I was diagnosed with epilepsy - which meant they would not continue laser without a GA, and they wouldn't give me a GA until my 'fits' were diagnosed. Hence I went untreated for about 6 months meaning a lot of subsequent laser, macugen injections and a vitrectomy in one eye.
Since that time my retinopathy has been fine with no activity evident. I significantly improved my blood sugar control. This summer I had quite a big bleed in my eye, which recovered after a few days.... evidently it was a 'freak' event.
I have needed cataracts operations this year too, primarily because of the invasive surgery from a couple of year ago. (plus high myopia and hereditary cataracts). Cataracts operation was easier than laser.
