Aortic valve replacement

Father in law had the same on Saturday. He’s been home for 9 hours now. His wasn’t planned...chest pain etc and collapsed last Wednesday. His valve was so calcified they couldn’t understand how it didn’t happen sooner.
He’s 59 and goes to the gym for light cardio workouts...he’s not super fit but just looks after himself. Used to smoke like a chimney but just has a few a day for the last ten years and rarely drinks. They think that the gym work was masking pain as he was putting it down to normal exercise chest tightness etc.
Don’t get me wrong he’s in pain but has meds and is well on the mend.
It’s utterly amazing what they can do nowadays and how sequential the recovery process is.
All the best for yours and hope you have a speedy recovery too. Although I hope you have more sympathetic daughter/family than he has.
He started saying how much pain his throat and chest was in...the wife cut him off with ‘I've had two cesarians and my gall bladder removed so don’t start moaning to me about pain.’
Yorkshire people don’t do sympathy.
