I have decided I am doing stoptober - booze free for the month of October.
I rarely drink Sunday-Thursday but we quite often have work socials on a Thursday and the weekends end up quite boozy one way or another - meals out, meeting for drinks, going 'out out' etc, or even just chilling at home with friends and wine.
Never done a dry January or anything so new ground for me.
Anyone else in? Doesn't have to be alcohol.

I’ll join you! Recently stopped having anything Mon-Thurs and while I didn’t drink more than 1-2 on those nights the difference it has made is remarkable. Much easier to get up in the morning and lost a stone without much other effort. Will be interesting to see what a month off does!
I've cut back quite a bit in September. It got a bit out of hand during the summer holidays, with the kids off school 'er indoors was wanting a glass of wine most evenings and it seemed rude not to join her. Added to that 3 weeks away on holiday equalled a lot of booze. Had two half marathons to train for as well so seemed a good idea to cut back. Lost 3lbs but not sure if that's the training, less booze, or both.
Thinking I'll try not to slip back into old ways in October, cut out the Thursday night beers, I don't have much on a Friday as I run / do Parkrun Saturday morning, have a bit on Saturday, and try to keep it to sharing a bottle of wine with the wife on Sundays.

I stopped on 23rd September, planning to stay that way until November, maybe even further.
Just because I was drinking most evenings for no particular reason other than habit and the feeling I deserved a beer after a day at work. My main reason is to break the habit and lose weight.
So far so good. Went to the pub last night with mates. Enjoyed 90 minutes on the alcohol-free Peroni until I started to fancy a real beer so took myself off.

Ah - yes, now I have also banned myself from alcohol free beers as I very much like the Heineken zero and I think it’s too easy to stay hooked to alcohol full beer if you replace it with alcohol free temporarily.
Went out for a meal this evening for the four of us - normally would be well over $230 aud but without booze it was 135aud - quite a difference.
I’m donating the equivalent of my monthly alcohol spend to charridy at the end of the month so far this week alone I reckon that’s $150
