Had high blood pressure for years, its a family thing.

Recently, last 12 months or so before taking my pills my blood pressure is 150s systolic and in its 100s diastolic and pulse is in its 60 or low 70s. Once I take my meds the systolic pressure falls to 130s and the diastolic to high 90s but my pulse rate jumps up to over a 100

Been to see GP several times they changed or increased my meds

Anyone with any thoughts or advice?

I have had high blood pressure for a few years and hate the medication you are supposed to take. I think I have tried three lots and all had side effects of some description.

I also have a slightly arthritic big toe so have started taking tumeric as a supplement - a teaspoon full a day mixed with the juice of a lemon and water - and have seen the blood pressure drop quite a bit. I was usually around 140 to 150 / 70 to 80 and after doing the above for a week or so I am more like 125 - 135 / 70 - 80.

No idea how sustainable it is and I am obviously not a doctor but it works for me at the moment. Give it a go!

Diagnosed with HBP 30 years ago and tried lots of different tablets and saw loads of NHS "specialists".
All had side effects bestway I could describe it was "not being able to think on feet"
After 10 years without any improvement asked doctor who was best doctor who specialised in HBP so could have a private referral.

Came back with recommendation for a Dr Ramsey(I think can check if required) who by chance worked at my local hospital.- Sheffield.
Didn't do private consultations but referred me as an NHS patient. Never actually saw Dr Ramsey but knew as soon as I has first consultation that good chance of getting something that worked for me. After about 6 consultations - to monitor how drugs were working found a combination of low dosage BP tablets that worked for me.
Been on them for 20 years with one modification, suite me and blood pressure under control.Try asking our doc to find out a genuine specialist in your area it will be well worth it

thanks i will check out tumeric.

I am going to see my GP again soo, if he does not help this time round i will go privately too. Last time I asked to be refered to a specialist I was given a leaflet stating that high blood pressure is not an illness

I have HBP. I've had it twice - the first time I managed to sort my life out and was taken off them. I am in the process of sorting my life out again so hoping to be taken off them at some point.

I take 2.5mg of Indapamide daily. Cannot say I have noticed any side affects though.
