Time to book the one way Swiss Air ticket before you are 'entertained' by this in your dotage..
The care sector appears to be a haven for Private Equity investors fleecing the elderly/families/tax payers with outrageous charges whilst paying living staff pathetic wages.
Now it seems interactive warm blooded caring humans are still too expensive, so let's replace them with a couple of IPADS and a robotic vacuum cleaner inside a tupperware box. (Ohh hang on. I bet they haven't thought of incorporating the robotic vacuum cleaner, great now we can get rid of the cleaner as well as the care staff!)
If I was resident in that home hacking the robot would be my top priority! Then it would at least do something interesting like swear a bit, encourage dogging in the linen cupboard, or show German art films in the day room instead of 'Cash in the frigging attic' etc etc.
Anyway there isn't any cash 💷 left in the attic, or anywhere else, it's been spent so I can sit looking miserable in this dump talking to a soulless droid that wasn't good enough for Star Wars, and so the care home owners can buy another yacht!
The robot shown reminds me of this from 'Blakes Seven' 40+ years ago.. Things don't seem to have moved on much.

Someone I knew had one of those ridiculous home visit jobs that require you to do 20-30 people a day and pay for your own fuel out of your minimum wage.
I'd rather have a bot than three minutes per day of someone ramming a sandwich in my gob, upper cutting me a couple of times to mash it up and rushing out the door.

Not sure. I do know that once she did the sums it wasn't too far off costing her money to do the job yet they still acted like they were doing her a favour. I wonder how many times that's replicated around the country. I don't really see how 'care' as a concept will remain sustainable without bumwipe bots.
As someone currently on hour 4 waiting in hospital for a docter to let us know whether it will be an all night or "home with antibiotics" ANYTHING that speed up care in a cost effective manner gets my vote.
Its a damned chest infection, that's gotta be a 0.25second diagnoses based off a billion health data points from a 100 million patience surely!?

Most care workers from care home workers to Senior nurses are not paid enough in my opinion.
I have quite a bit of experience as my Mrs was a manager of a care home, and worked at a couple of care agencies, they didn't make a lot of money. some do, but it's not a normal thing.
If a Robot can help and provide care then I think that's a good thing. Although, misses the point of human interaction.
Care plan: go retire in India or Thailand and hire carers there. Or, bring two over from thailand, 40k total, staff work rota between yourself and another person. i have seen this done recently and it makes sense. far far cheaper than selling your home and weighing out £1k a week to a nasty care home!

In another few decades they might be out earning us there. I guess you can purchase someone closer to home but they'll be on universal basic income and would pocket the money and chuck you in the nearest canal. Symptomatic of our society's attitude to the elderly.
No longer do we care for our loved ones at home. We outsource it so we can continue our happy little lives without the inconvenience of looking after the elderly.
The same is true of childcare.
We all agree that carers should be paid at least a good minimum wage and then b
h about how expensive that care is.
Can't have it both ways I'm afraid.
Oh and then most expect to be able to hang on to their assets to pass on to their children while the state (AKA the taxpayer) picks up the bill for their care.
So offspring don't want top have to look after their elderly parents but expect to inherit their savings and investments while the taxpayer shells out for Mum and Dad's care in their dotage.
Got to find savings somewhere.
