I saw an ad on social media for a food intolerance test by sending a few strands of hair and paying just under £50.

Has anyone had one done? Thoughts?

If you do some research, it will conclude that hair tests are not very good. That's why I opted for an electrodermal test, although these have mixed reviews too.

Hi OP, I used one similar to the one you suggest.

I was having stomach pains when eating certain foods. I managed to pinpoint it when I was eating a decent burger. I.E. not the typical drive through processed type.

Had all the tests for food poisoning, coeliac, inflammation etc and all came back fine.

Decided to do the intolerance test and beef was listed as were several foods I don’t eat.

One of the other things on it was cornflour and anything linked to corn. I’ve found since that eating Doritos or the like set it off.

So for me it has picked up on a few things. If I avoid these my stomach is fine.

However I’ve noticed recently that lentils are setting me off and that wasn’t picked up on the test.

I used groupon to find mine and it was £29, for that price I was quite happy for it to point out a few foods to steer clear of for an easier life.

Hope this helps

Kris

I've had a blood one and a hair one in the past.

I'd rate the hair one as poor whereas the blood one was very good. It definitely helped me with some digestive issues and also some weight / energy issues.

The hair one is cheaper and I think you get what you paid for.
