Hernia - Recommendations for private not NHS

At a recent annual physical with my doctor he advised I have a double inguinal hernia. This was news to me as I have no apparent physical discomfort. I am 50 and in so so shape with no other medical issues.
I now live in the USA. After an initial look at the cost for a laparoscopic repair here in the US it could be running into the region of a 5,000+ GBP cost out of my pocket, and that's WITH my US insurance helping.
After a search on here of other's experiences and a cursory look at having it done privately in the UK, it appears I could get it done cheaper in the UK.
Yes, there are some logistics to consider, like not having a consultation ahead of time, and how quickly I could fly after the surgery and how to deal with any potential complications.
So, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a private surgeon in the UK for my type of hernia and repair in either London or the Brighton area. I have friends I can stay with for immediate recuperation post op.
Bad idea? Any recommendations?

if your hernias are not symptomatic, you might not need treatment ( I wouldn't)
the herniation is just something, getting pushed through something else.
Your brain stem herniates, your tongue herniates and your stomach might too through the diaphragm, none often need preventative treatment.
Remember USA healthcare is about 30% over-inflated and considered a "runaway system"

What do I know?
Well, I'm no doc, but have had 2 inguinal hernia ops, right side in June 1968, (surgeon said the other left side would herniate at some point). He was right! June 2016!
I thought I could leave them, ie no initial symptoms.
First op was done in a RAF hospital (who knew you had that option, eh? Military or Civvy hospital in 60's Britain. Days long gone. Sadly.)
In hospital 14 days.
Today? In/out in hours, literally. What have they done with all that saved time?

Guy in Cyprus, flew to UK, had hernia op in London, got tube back to Heathrow and flew home next day! Age? 72!!
I thought I could beat my hernias and leave them, just like the guy in Cyprus thought too.
Bit like I beat a 'herniated' disc (well, 2 herniated discs to be accurate) and avoid ops.
Exercise and rest combined over long period meant I did avoid the disc op, the surgeon was pleased how far I had progressed at the pre med stage and cancelled the op, to my delight.
Hernia. Avoid having it repaired? Good luck with that! Eventually, it will enlarge. Can you see any bulge(s) yet? I couldn't to begin with and had no symptoms. Second hernia in 2016, I knew what to look for. I'd had sharp tummy pain while out walking on hols in Lanzerote. Thought no more of it until I spotted a tiny bulge in left side groin. Normally I doubt I would have given it a second glance, but experience meant I instantly knew what it was... hernia!
But what do I know?
If I was you I would look up 'hernia strangulation'.

I had one done when I was 19 or 20. I think I was out the same day, or maybe the next, can’t remember. Up and about fairly quickly, could certainly fly within a week I would say.
I believe I also have an umbilical hernia but as is the nhs these days even though I want it done, no chance, as it’s not causing any problem so they don’t want to spend any money.

I had a double inguinal hernia. Only I didn't know I did. I though I only had one hernia.
Had Op privately, couple of days painful to move, get in / out of bed but OK keeping moving rather than lying down. Then on day 4 the infection came in the wound and knocked me out for nearly 4 weeks, being unable to even sit in a taxi with a seat belt on to get to the hospital.
Then I discovered that I ha the hernia on the other side. three months later that was operated on. Out for 8 weeks that time.
Both were full open wound / stitches though, ten years ago now. Advice at the time was due to my youth the keyhole inserted meshes wouldn't last me out so better to do a proper job.
