Plant based diet
Discussion
Having watched Game Changers I decided there was enough evidence (and I know all the arguments about it not being funded by the meat marketing board) to give a plant based diet a go. I’m now about 4 weeks in and ..... am feeling great, sort of surprised myself.
I’m a reasonably active 57 year old, most weeks I’ll get 2-3 gym sessions in based on 5 x 5 sort of workout, a circuits session, a yoga class and a couple of runs or hit sessions.
I enjoy food so did a bit of research beforehand to make sure I could be A) eating something interesting, and B) have a healthy diet to maintain energy to train.
I had previously tried (not very hard) to diet and drop 1/2 stone, but found that cutting back on what I eat left me running on empty when I did a weights session.
My experiences are anecdotal, but I’m convinced.
Yoga, I’ve noticed I don’t feel as stiff and can stretch further, the first week after changing diet I thought it was just in my mind, but the following 3 weeks have all seen improvements in flexibility.
HIT, I do a session of 2 x 10 x 50m uphill sprints, at the end I am usually b
ksed, I did this session a few days ago, having not done it previously for a few weeks and remarkably sailed through it, and was able to add some shorter shuttle runs at the end.
Weights sessions, no great increase in strength, but I’m finishing each session and not dipping out on the last set of exercises.
Weight, here’s the best bit, I’m eating like a horse and have lost 4-5 lbs.
I think I’m a convert, as it’s not for moral reasons I’m happy to have the odd meal that includes meat, but can’t see me going back to my carnivorous past.

Enjoyed that. Good read. I'm off to pump some more weights and eat a steak.Ok I'm actually going to realise its Friday and have the biggest fattest pizza known to man. It will have meat on.
I do think it's all in the mind. Your on a new diet. You believe itll make you feel better, stronger etc so you do. A plasibo if you will. However I like the sound of loosing weight while eating like a pig. Thatll do me.
