Why not just have some dettol in the bottle instead?

or hand soap.....or anti bac wipes...

I have been using aerosol brake cleaner as a put me on until people get sensible again. If a virus can survive that stuff it’s earnt a go at my immune system.

You are wasting your time with anything “anti-bacterial”. Covid-19 is a virus. So anti-bac does nothing. You need sanitisers with minimum 60% alcohol content. Or lashings of soap and water regularly applied per official advice. Oh, and you definitely do NOT need 300 rolls of loo paper or 500 bags of pasta.

Brake cleaner? Pah, it'll barely touch the surface. Carb cleaner is what you want! Not sure I'd want it on my skin though

While yes I agree this has been discussed at length by doctors and many "anti bac" type products are also effective at killing or at least reducing virus.

Hand gel is not "anti virus" either

Myself, I am just carrying on as normal ensuring I wash my hands properly. Never used hand gel and never will , certainly not going to by some.

Mixing a cheap vodka (assuning you dont have access to pure alcohol) with aloe vera gel makes an antibac hand gel

The comments re brake cleaner and carb cleaner seem like the best option to me given how much of the stuff I have just sitting on the shelf.

There are numerous first hand accoutns from people who say irs no worse than having a cold, so you can continue as you were.

I don't have sensitive skin, so I tend to use carb cleaner to remove oil off my hands when I've worked on the car. Leaves your hands completely white, and degreased. Amazing stuff. Agree with your advice for most people though.

pure alcohol is ethanol. it comes free with your petrol - or by the litre from ebay.

Seems so.

I guess ethanol is used in hand sanitiser just because it's cheaper than isopropyl.

Just get a grip, and wash your hands with soap like a normal person. And then dry them on toilet roll.....
