Because nobody knows how many, only how many tested and confirmed cases. Which isn't a terribly useful statistic given that nobody knows the ratio of confirmed to unknown.Depending on who you believe it could be as low as 1/100 or even 1/1000. But the "confirmed" figure is released regularly on every news platform and the NHS websites.
To put it simply, just do your best to stay off either list and keep your family off them too, and as many other people as possible.

A week back they seemed to have got released around 2pm but that seems to have been delayed.Its just for morbid curiosity in a way but also as I fear the true numbers are being held back

I believe I have it. Went through the nhs website who said it’s likely I do have it, but just to quarantine myself for 7 days, no need to call 111 or get tested. Not much anyone can do until better testing gets put in place

Germany is on almost the same track as us, Italy and almost every other country. Forget 'cases detected', just look at deaths since first case:
Can anyone explain why Covid-19 was downgraded on the 20th March from being an HCID (High Consequence infectious disease) by the UK government, due to low mortality rate, but we have gone to the extreme and ruinious shutdown measures?

Also, although i dont necessarily agree with the message, this has some really interesting info in it about the death rates.
For example, in Italy, if someone dies of a heart attack, but when tested, is found to have covid-19, it is listed as a covid-19 death. This is probably why the overall Italian death rate is still below normal mortality rates for this time of year. Perhaps Germany is recording the deaths the correct way....
