Here is a question for the Pistonheads massife

There are self test kits manufactured by British companies available currently but due to slow Govenment reaction these have not been approved.

The base technogy is similar to that used on HIV testing. The companies are stating a better than 97% accuracy.

These test product is not CE approved and it is stated on the Government website that due to them not being CE approved it would be illegal to sell them. I am not sure this is correct since CE approval is very much a self certification process.

My thoughts are that the more of the population we test the better idea we have of who can go back to work and get on with their normal(ish) life.

I believe moe people have been infected with COVID-19 than the Government would have us believe

I really want to get one of these tests as I believe I have been infected and recovered. I would be happy to break the law to prove my status since the Government has been unable to keep up with the latest avalable technology.

I reitterate that if we know the status of the population regarding COVID-19 infections it would allow society to possible return to normal sooner.

There is a reason the government appear slow, they need to verify something actually works. Anybody can claim their product is x% accurate. But are they testing it to recognised standards etc.

The test kit works but there has been no Government specification written for COVD-19.

It uses proven technologies all be it for HIV.
The test is looking for specific anti bodies produced when infected. These appear soon after infection when your body starts fighting back.

Do what you want, but suffer any consequences in silence. Any unsanctioned test will only help your peace of mind, as I doubt you would be welcome back in public based on illegal pharmaceuticals. Wait for the official test, and if you are essential enough, you'll get one.

Again how do you know it works for COVID19?

As has already been pointed out once you had that test, what would it actually prove? (even if it was accurate) As the test isn't recognised then nor will the result be.

There are churches selling cures for covid19 would you buy them?

You'll be able to go to the cinema, restaurants, pubs etc.. They'll be shut but you can't have everything.

Every tom dick and harry will claim they have had th test and are now free to do what they want and go outside mass in groups etc.
