Sense of smell is shockingly bad

It's not a huge issue but for a while now my sense of smell has been terrible. noticed it at the start of December when I was at work and a colleague was complaining about the smell of a house we were in. Generally couldn't smell anything.

Feel fine in every other way (I know some have said it's linked to COVID19). 30 years old, generally healthy but overweight by a few stone.

Its happened before where it goes for a while and just comes back.

More curious than anything as to the reasons why.

Does anyone have any ideas? Taste seems to be there still.

I have had the same problem for a while and ended up seeing a specialist.

I do suffer from allergies but my main issue is that one of my nasal passages is much narrower than the other plus it is infected. Not been resolved yet due to current events and all non-emergency appointments being cancelled.

Have you tried saltwater spray in your nostrils? Costs about a fiver and available over the counter. Worth giving that a try first.

Loads of things it could be rather than C19 so try not to worry.

Not a problem with smelling per se, but my son sometimes uses the NeilMed Nasal Sinus Rinse kit from Boots when he has a cold and wants to get back to training and clear the passages.

I don’t think it’s very pleasant but worth a try ?
