Hi all,

Since Saturday morning I appear to have been suffering from what I believe to be stomach flu. Symptoms have been:

- aching all over
- sweating
- dizziness
- bum gravy and sudden arse puke which can literally just be water...or look like it lol
- stomach cramps
- nausea but not vomiting
- lost 8 pounds in weight

I’ve been drinking lots of liquids and most of the time, up until today thankfully, within 10 mins the liquid has literally come out the other end. The only liquid which didn’t pass straight through me was Pepsi Cola? That drink seemed to calm things a little.

I believe an undercooked BBQ’d chicken kebab may have been the culprit, my own cooking and no one else is involved lol.

I’m starting to feel like I’m getting better, managed to eat something today, bum gravy has gone but have noticed that my voice is hoarse and has been since yesterday. I haven’t got a cold or the ‘19, it’s just bum flu...so just wondered if a dodgy voice is part of the package? The internet doesn’t seem to have an answer apart from stomach acid being the cause, but I’ve had no issues on that side of the plumbing?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

A croaky voice is one of the symptoms of CV19, as are the others. Though it does sound more like food poisoning.

I had similar to that (no sweating or dizziness) about 10 weeks ago, Imodium taken didn’t have a crap for two days all sorted, stomach craps very unpleasant.

No obvious food culprits (rest of family fine), then the missus had it about 3 weeks later, some symptoms, same lack of illness in rest of family.

I did look at getting some immodium but I did read that if one has stomach flu then immodium will slow down the recovery because the body can't expel the bacteria/virus as quick as it could via gravy. So as I'm stuck at home I thought I just put up with the gravy.

What you call 'stomach flu' is known in this house as Norovirus. The last time I went down with a dose (after a mug of tea at a friend's house where I was later told they'd all had it) it lasted two weeks, two weeks of sheer hell spent on and off the bog with an arse jet that I swear lifted me off the seat.

It more than likely is stomach acid. Even though you’ve not been vomiting you have world war 3 going on in your stomach which will cause the acid to rise, especially as it’s been going on for days.

Yes that makes sense, like an acid haze of sorts rising up...I wonder if that includes an odour? I’d better keep my distance when talking to folk and keep the mints handy.
