Hand/rash?

For about a month now I've had this discolouration, just on the back of my hand, although possibly starting on my other hand now. It's not particularly uncomfortable although once or twice has gone very red and itchy for a few hours. If I press it it's much whiter than the picture. The pharmacist didn't know what to suggest. I tried steroid cream for a week.

Internet didn't provide many answers other than vitiligo but just now looking again, maybe pityriasis/tinea versicolor.

Anyone had anything similar or know about these things? Thoughts would be welcome, thanks.

I'm no doc, but seen someone else with similar. Theirs was diagnosed as Vitiligo, loss of skin pigmentation.
I'd see a dermatologist (check NHS for yours). Get in quick, they're going to be busy with all this mass overuse of hand sanitisers.

Vitiligo is quite common apparently, but can get severe or not. The exact cause is like so many things, unknown.
