Hi all,

David Lloyd is about to open on Saturday after 3 months suspension. I would like to cancel however I know I will have to give 3 months notice.

However Im on furlough and rumours that my team / office will be made redundant, plus im worried about COVID as Im in the medium risk i.e. lung issues and my 78 year old mum lives with us so my kids / mrs all have to be so careful.

I've read that if redundant then I can tell David Llyod, not sure if I need to show a redundacy letter ? Do I need a letter confirming my medium risk ?

Has anyone else cancelled thier memberships due to Covid ?

Simon

Hi, yes I have read those T&Cs however Im interested to the experiences of others who may have cancelled using these reasons, what evidence the club required and whether they cancelled there and then, i.e. didnt have to go through the 3 month period.

If I was ill, heathlwise, then I suppose a doctors letter would be required, at £60. However as my worried about the spread of covid, due to my mum, then can I just state this as a reason ? Can I also just state Im going to be made redundant ? If so what evidence.

So, understanding what others did, had to show, what was discussed will help me to `prepare` my case.

I’d speak to them and see what they say.

You will not be the only one looking to cancel.

My David Lloyd is also offering one month free membership suspension, which I have taken up.

I wam hoping the new outdoor area will be up and running by then otherwise I may also be looking to cancel.

Make sure you keep an absolute record of everything from experience wink
I had read about them before I cancelled my membership.
And luckily had a record of times/dates/ screenshots etc when they tried the old "we have no record of your cancellation" biggrin

I managed to cancel my local gym (not a big name but relatively well known). I initially contacted them and asked to cancel my contract as I dont plan on using it any time soon.

They came back with "Covid secure" etc etc but I said that I cant think of a more likely place to catch Covid. I told them I didn't feel safe even with what they had done. A day or so later, they rang me up and refunded me (I had paid a year in advance).

I guess I was just lucky but the gym is so small they would have problems fitting in 3 people at once.
