Why was I given an adrenailne injection?

Long story short I had a bad allergic reaction a few days ago and ended up looking like the kid from Mask wearing the skin of Mr Blobby and the hands of Les Grossman. I ended up in A&E and was given IV steroids to get all the inflamation down, which all seemed spot on and has worked really well.

While I was in there I was also given a shot of adrenaline which knocked the crap out of me. I've no problem with it now though and recovery is good, but was just curious as to what the purpose of the adrenaline was WRT my allergic reaction?

Anyone on here know about this stuff?

Also I do know how to spell adrenaline. Perhaps there's still some in there.

On a strong prescription antihistamine and taking 20mg of steroid tablets for next five days. Skin and face almost back to normal, just feel like I've been hit by a car after the jab. Not at all cool like it looks in the filums
