Hey folks,

I’ve been training for a few years, mostly using weights, but I’m curious as to what the following would achieve if followed daily for, say, 4 weeks:

50 pull ups
100 press ups
150 ATG body weight squats

Performed with a reasonable amount of pace with the aim of beating the time achieved as I progress.

My goal is to reduce body fat whilst limit muscle loss using a routine that is quick and doesn’t need overthinking.

Thoughts?

I’m not expert but I’d expect you’d get a beach body and all the girls would say “hey heathwood have you been working out?”

Just the one of each. Performed with no set rest periods either during or between exercises. Pushups, for example, I can get around 50 initially, maybe 20 secs rest then say another 15 and so on until I’ve done the 100.

I think if I were you I'd go with HIIT training and drop the ideas of number of repetitions, or I'd do strength exercises with additional cardiovascular exercises.

I think what you propose will work well for a number of weeks, then you'll see no benefit, and get bored.

Sounds good, I took did 100 pull ups a day for 8 weeks a few years ago, added a decent amount of size to my upper back and arms, then something similar to what you have outlined when I signed up for a Murph challenge.

I think you’d reduce a bit of body fat as you’d be burning a lot of calories, I’d imagine not much change in muscle mass, in 4 weeks.

4 weeks isn’t a huge amount of time to make vast changes in terms of appearance, but I think your endurance would be much improved.

Personally I would increase the volume but I’d do the workout every other day to rest the muscles. I’m nearing 14 stone and if I did pull-ups every day, my biceps would be in pain. (Assumed close grip pull ups but thinking about it, you probably referring to wide grip)

I’m not an expert by any means though, just your average gym bro lifting for 17 years~. I don’t usually chime in with workout topics. I have thought about giving the murph workout a try sometime.

Yeah, this is a sort of Murph workout for pussies I guess (ditch the runs and halve the volume). I’m not looking for miracles; I’ve been training long enough to be realistic. I think it might just mix things up a bit, shock the system maybe. As I say, hoping it might Help to reduce body fat a couple of % without losing much / any muscle.

P.S. did a GVT session as an alternative to achieve the same goal earlier. Bloody nearly killed me!

Aren’t they just. It was the strict 60 secs between sets that did me.

I ended up dropping that to 30 second for some exercises last time. It is brutal, but I reckon if you are doing 10 10s as I was, it should be 4-6 weeks tops. Shock to the system means system recovers and copes after a while...i think?
