Bit of an annoying one this, but on and off over the last 6 months I have experienced really acute pain just at the base of my ribs after sitting at a desk for several hours.

It feels like someone has literally stabbed me in the chest just below my lowest rib on the left hand side, and is extremely painful. One day I left a client office and it was so bad actually screamed in pain when lowering myself into my car seat rofl

I'm no expert, but it feels like some form of severe muscle strain or a pulled muscle.

The pain goes away over night, and when I wake up the next morning it is gone, but then if I sit at a desk for another 6 or 8 hours, I'm in agony again as it starts after a few hours.

It doesn't seem to matter which desk or chair I use, and they can be quite varied, but it seems to be brought on by sitting at the same desk/chair for 2 or 3 weeks or more, or by working long hours at the same desk/chair.

Anyone experienced this?

I haven't had any kind of an accident or anything that could cause an injury as far as I know?

Yes, no problems at all.

I suspect it may be the way I sit at a desk, and if I remain in the same position for hours each day, for a couple of weeks or so, the pain starts.

But different desks and chairs don't seem to solve the problem.

How often are you standing up and moving through the day?

It's possible to bruise a rib almost without knowing.

Costochondritis? Have you been doing press ups or lifting something heavy? Doesn't take much, even a good sneeze can cause a wee tear.

Just to clarify:
'wee' as in small, or as in urine?
'tear' as in rip, or as in lachrymose?
