Just wondering who uses a CPAP, which one and how did you get it right (the mask etc) in terms of fit, comfort etc?

I was given one when diagnosed with sleep apnea.
It's a Philips Respironics with clear gel type mask .
It took a couple of weeks to get used to it but now I wouldn't be without it .
If you find that you get a very dry mouth or sore throat then you will need a humidifier attachment.

Have that but reckon the pressures too high so working on that.

I've had one for the last 3 years or so. Absolute life changer (seriously), wouldn't be without it now.

I've had a few different masks, current one is very comfy, a bit of trial and error I think really.

They did give me a nasal mask to try, that was awful, when I woke in the morning I felt extremely bloated to the point where it was painful, considered phoning work and not going in, but went in, was burping and farting constantly all the way there, eventually felt fine once my guts had deflated! I'd obviously swallowed a lot of air in the night. Never used it again.

The feeling of it being at too high a pressure is just you not being used to it I think. It does take quite a bit of getting used to. For the first few months I was crap at wearing mine, I'd decide to have 5 minutes in bed all comfy without it, but end up falling asleep before putting it on, so not getting the benefit from it. Had a few scary moments of nodding in the afternoon/evening and decided it was time to get used to putting it on as soon as I got in bed. It's second nature now and I very rarely feel excessively tired in the afternoon or evening. I'll feel a bit sleepy when sitting watching TV at 7pm ish after a 5am wake up, but if I stand up and go to the toilet or whatever I then tend to be fine until 10-11pm and just go to bed when tired. It'd feel weird to get into bed without masking up now.

Before I got into the habit of using it properly, I'd VERY often spill a drink over myself as I'd doze off while watching TV, I don't think that's happened more than once or twice in the last few years now.

Just put it on and try not to think about it, if you're tired enough you'll doze off and it'll be second nature before long.

Thanks and don’t disagree with a lot of that.

I actually get to sleep dead easy but it’s the wake up after 4-5 hours that is doing my head in. I dream of simply going to bed and getting 8 hours and waking up fresh but around 3am I find myself pulling the mask off.

I’ve been playing with the pressure and humidity a bit so that’s helped. It’s a Resmed Aisrsense 10 so believe it’s top of the line type thing and seems good, it’s me who is taking a few months to adjust.
