Who is looking forward to the return of their local Parkrun & why...!!!!

I can’t wait.

Reasons why it will be so good:-

Great atmosphere on a Saturday morning followed with a nice coffee, possibly cakebiggrin
Feel good factor.
Great sense of achievement each week.

Overall, bloody love it.

That’s a shame.
I don’t know if your a runner or not, but if it’s the first time for Park-runs, I’m sure you will really enjoy it. Great atmosphere.
Enjoy.

Can't see it happening, Rule of 6^ etc.

TX.

^unless Parkrun is considered as "organised team sports" although then still limited to max of 30?

They're officially classed as an organized sporting even so exempt from the rule of 6 https://blog.parkrun.com/uk/2020/09/15/covid-19-co...

Several have already announced they won't be restarting in October though as they need the landowners permission too.

Still max of 30 though? We used to have 400+ at ours!

I've not quite figured out the 30 thing, there are some exemptions and that blog post implies parkrun is one of them. However I'm not sure how several hundred people getting together for a parkrun, and the inevitable lack of social distancing that will happen, will play in the press.

Things like open water swimming have been massive this year with pools closed. Loads of venues are thriving with booked sessions and 30 per group. Just different rules about how and when you arrive and leave etc

It’s not going to work with 400 runners all passing each other in narrow paths though. Even if you set off in groups of 30 there’s still the issue of lots of people all being on the same path and as it’s a race the spacing thing won’t really work.

At least with things like open water swimming you can spread out easily without ending up in the bushes or off the track etc.

You think there would be things like virtual park runs where people do the course and then submit their times each week via strava or something? Sure it’s not the same but just something to keep people motivated,

There is https://blog.parkrun.com/uk/2020/06/10/notparkrun-...

Some individual parkruns started doing something similar before (not)parkrun started but not sure if they've continued.

Agreed, we were due to start our new parkrun a couple of weeks after lockdown started. Our core team has been meeting on Saturday mornings for a 5k and breakfast at various different locations, rather than just our parkrun course, for a few months now, which is nice but not quite the same.

There is a virtual Parkrun thing on strava.
Prefer the real deal though.
