How do those finding this ongoing situation plan to cope
Discussion
As it sadly appears that the current situation Regarding restrictions, lockdown etc will unfortunately be around for a considerable amount of time. What plans do anyone have for coping especially if like me it is having a significant impact on physical and mental health.
I did consider going to live with my fathers family abroad as first off all I would be around more family and secondly they have almost normality over there despite having almost the same number of cases as the UK (although a lot less deaths) however I probably couldn’t afford to do so and cause too much stress which I’m trying to avoid
pre lockdown I used to have a evening college course and went to the nearby city at least once a week which is now no longer feasible.
I think living in a horrendous small town makes a already bad situation a 100 times worse

I live in Guernsey, we have no restrictions, but did experience full lockdown early in the year, I actually enjoyed the challenge of that period, kept myself busy with keeping fit and other things I never had time for.
The one thing I am slightly concerned about is my daughter being away at uni in the uk, there's a good chance that because the uk government have managed such a f
k up of handling this I may not see her for a very long time.

Hopefully she isn’t in a Scottish university as the Scottish government are taking things to absolute extremes including banning students from seeing their family at Christmas time The one thing I am slightly concerned about is my daughter being away at uni in the uk, there's a good chance that because the uk government have managed such a f

I think the mixing of families, sports, entertainment etc, will be in place for the whole country before long. The government seems to be increasing the tension with every briefing.
I'm hoping to have a house move with my partner wrapped up before the stamp duty relief ends. Other than that, cycling indoors and outdoors 5 sessions per week has been tremendous fun and very motivating. I've totally got the cycling bug, lost a load of weight and massively improved my fitness.
I've loved working from home, previously I would do a fair amount of business travel, but we were slowly reorganising to do more remote work and less site visits, it has just pushed us to do it quicker. I appreciate not everyone likes working from home, but it's worked well for me.

I'm really struggling with the thought of another six months of this suit with the idiots in government making ever more stupid and illogical rules up. As said above, with the prospect of no holidays and limited leisure activities for the foreseeable I don't know why I'm bothering to get up in the morning!
I wont lie, I haven't found it easy. Dreadful times really but as someone else said, you just got to try and make the best of it.
My thoughts:-
1. Step away from the media (social or mainstream) or the news
2. Try not to dwell on it (I stepped away from NP&E on here for that very reason)
3. Music - OK this is subjective, always loved music, but I've listened to it a lot more lately
4. Try and get out for exercise, OUTDOORS. I just walk. It's good to get out
5. Remind yourself that this will be over, eventually, even if you don't know when. We can't carry on like this forever
6. Don't sweat the things you can't change, only those you can.
7. Perhaps write about it, it will make you feel better to get thoughts down, and might be interesting to read back in the future.
And good luck, we all need some of that right now.

I work in a school so back at the start of lockdown when schools were restricted most staff went to home working or odd days which is what I did for several weeks before going back full time for a few weeks before the end of the summer. So that was several months of largely being stuck at home.
During this time I was also diagnosed with a pulmonary condition and was told I should have been shielding all along anyway so that really helped!
Then we had the school summer holidays... another 6 weeks where I was told to remain shielding. Did so, largely but was by this time rather bored of DIY and IT projects!
Finally after 5 months of it I was ready to go back to work!
3 days in I was hospitalised and have now been told its November before I can even consider going back to work and thats if work can be made covid-safe which is very questionable. So half expecting it to be next year at the earliest and then it will be in a reduced capacity.
So, plan is, work from home managing things an hour or so a day. Spend a lot more time trying to get fit and catch up on some bigger DIY plans. Plus I spend at least a couple of hours cooking every day so that fills a lot of time and is varied. I'm also looking at doing some online courses, possibly an FE qualification of some sort.
We have a short break booked soon to get away for a few days but longer term will go abroad to see family for a few weeks, isolating on return won't be an issue!
Fortunately Mrs21 is at home most days so she keeps me sane.

We've just moved out of London to a small town, and it's coincided with me leaving my job and I'm happy to admit that I'm struggling. I'm trying to keep structure to my days by doing a lot of exercise and allocating time each day to getting something done around the house, but I find myself counting the hours day and night at present.
''ve also unwittingly developed the annoying habit of waking up at about 2am every day and not being able to get back to sleep for a couple of hours!

We're all going to die one day anyway, put a mask on wash your hands and crack on with it. Youve got as much chance as waking up with cancer or getting run over so just carry on.
That’s the plan.I was getting very down in the first lockdown, but at this stage, I’ve reached acceptance. I’ve now accepted things will never be the same again, so you just got to try and make the best of it, however s
t you think it is.Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
