Did this last year and felt pretty good, going again this year.

I haven't had a particularly boozy lockdown, or summer really, but a good chance for me to reset before the Christmas season - although I suppose Christmas parties are unlikely to be a thing this year.

I know a lot of people do January but that is my Birthday month so October it is.

Even macmillan dont belive most people have enough left to stay sober for an entire month this year.

2020 is best forgotten and start again next year.

I do it every year, as well as Dry January.

Not sure it does any real good, but can’t do any harm.

Bought some alcohol free Doom Bar to try. Won’t buy any more.

My sister-in-law is doing what she calls Noctober, as in no alcohol in October, for cancer charities.
All she’s asked from the family is a nominal £5 per head, seems churlish to say no.
I’ve got to be fair, it’ll be no hardship for her, she gets wasted on what I spill down my tie, if I ever wore a tie.

It's a pretty sad indictment of the nation's dependency on alcohol if Macmillan don't even think people can manage a whole month sober "because 2020".

Not wishing to sound like a knob, but not getting drunk for a month is hardly a big deal really.

Why not try and quit drinking full stop? It's a legalised drug thats a burden on a lot of aspects in society in my view

I hope that I’m not stating the obvious, but I think that the dry October thing is about not drinking alcohol for a month, NOT not getting wasted for a month.

I think he knew that.

Feeling good. I don't have any desire to give up alcohol permanently but I do think it is sensible to take the odd break from these things. I also think doing it last year for the first time it did have an impact on my consumption over the year for the better.

Having re read my post, it being a different day and being in a better mood I think an apology is in order.

I was too quick to pour my own views on alcohol out rather than support someones good intentions.

I apologise smile

Forget it, anyone can commit an oversight, as the
hedgehog said when trying to mount a yard broom.

Lockdown restrictions and not going into the office are making this year is a breeze so far, not really finding I have to do anything different.
