About a month or so ago, I had a real painful joint pain in my middle finger, right hand. Didn't take much notice apart from its the finger i stubbed whilst polishing the car! The pain the next day went to the finger to the right and was even more painful yet my grip was fine but clenching a fist was painful.

Next up was my right knee which was very tender around the knee cap but I don't think the joint necessarily. This then appeared in the left elbow, although midly, then an almighty pain in the left shoulder. So much so, I couldn't lift my arm without a lot of pain.

Took Ibruprofen and in the morning I could move the shoulder ok but I could still feel something 'there'.
Ive seen the Doc & had blood tests for everything it seems including Covid anti-bodies, gout, arthritis etc. I do have low vitamin B12 and been perscribed pills for that.

What I can't fathom is why it seems to be doing some bloody merry go round around my body! Tonight, as I type, I have have real pain in both knees, so much so I had difficulty getting up the stairs. Tomorrow morning they may be fine but have it in my fingers.

Anyone else have this? I'm (& the doc is quite certain) I had Covid back in March after coming back from skiing in Austria. I had quite a few of the sympoms but never got to the point of needing hospital treatment. He 'thinks' it could be 'long covid' as its now known but I sure as hell would like to know!

I get this 'wandering pain' all the time, have done for years, Sometimes it's my hip(s), sometimes my knee(s), often my fingers, maybe my back, frequently my left shoulder (though that's due to an injury).

I just put it down to age (I'm 70) and can ignore it most of the time. At night it can keep me awake, during the day it can prevent me doing things, for example I can no longer bend easily to tinker with my cars or some days walk very far. When it gets too much a couple of paracetamol or application of ibuprofen gel works. It doesn't stop me doing the things I enjoy most. biggrin

Are you stiff in the morning? Does it ease after an hour?
How old are you?

Sounds very similar and at 64 it may be down to age. Blood tests didn’t flag up gout and it certainly eases once I’m up and about. I find Naproxen really helps if it’s bad.

I thinks it's just being over 40.

I've pretty much always got some ache or pain, some I put down to an old back injury, others down to minor sporting knocks when I was younger, some down to carrying a bit too much weight about, but mostly I think it's just called getting old.

Same here. I'm 52 and lost five stone on twelve months then put half of it back on these past three months through being a gannet!! censored

During my weight loss year, I walked more than a thousand miles with no bother from my knees, feet or any part of my body. Stopped the walking and ever since, my knees have been painful as have my feet. Having used Dr Google, I think it's extensor tendonitis in my feet, my knees are probably hurting in protest at the extra weight they're being forced to shift.

I started getting odd aches in my joints, sharpest in my right hand, finger joints. Seems I have haemochromatosis (too much iron). Have you had your iron levels checked?

Not sure but will check. The last blood test checked for several things and the only flag was low B12.

How low?

Follow this up (unless the doctor noted it's not at concerning levels). Low B12 can cause awkward issues in extremis - nerve issues, brain issues etc.

Worth speaking to your GP about it. Fleeting pain and swelling in multiple joints could be due to an inflammatory arthritis eg rheumatoid or psoriatic.

B12 can cause a multitude of symptoms, but it is very much worth taking high doses of vitamin D, maybe 4000iu per day. Have a look at some of the vitamin D deficiency symptoms.....

Providing your blood tests included things like ESR, rheumatoid factor, CRP etc then they will help rule out inflammatory conditions.

Definitely not gout.
