Which walking app?

I've an android samsung, best walking app.

Freebie preferably.

To log walks on trails etc, or just one throughout the day to see number of steps and distance?

For the former, I like both Viewranger and Alltrails, allows you to search for local routes in your area with the distance and then you can follow the route on your phone. I mix and match depending upon where I am, different routes on different apps.

Those two sound good, probably more than I need.

Just interested in distance covered, idle curiosity more than anything else.

I just use Strava.

I only use 3 apps and they're all mentioned here. AllTrails, Strava (more general outdoor activity based but good for logging) and ViewRanger

Samsung phones normally have Samsung Health built in. Works as a pedometer, measures distance, calories burnt etc etc
