Suddenly on Thursday.

Friends for almost 40 years we spoke just about everyday and had just about everything in common.

I've lost count of how many times a day I've thought I must tell him about this or that.

I'm finding it pretty difficult :-(

Sorry for your loss. It’s totally normal to be finding it difficult, your life’s just been knocked out of kilter and will never be quite the same again. There’s no formula for dealing with grief unfortunately and everyone will go though it in their own way but you will get through it. As said above do try to hold onto all the memories because they can never be taken away. Remembering might make you sad now but hopefully in the future you can think back to a memory and remember it with a smile.
Not quite the same but I lost my Mum over 2 years ago and still sometimes think “I must phone Mum and tell her …” I don’t phone her but I do still tell her.

I lost my best mate to suicide 4 years ago.

It’s hard but will slowly get easier and I echo all the advice above.

So sorry.

Really sorry to hear this. You have my condolences. Time does help, but it is also good to share. Don't keep things bottled up.

In June of last year my Father aged 92 lost his cousin who was like a brother. They grew up together, shared professional lives together and spoke to each other so frequently. My Father was devastated when he died as he was his last living childhood friend. There is no solution to grief but keep busy, keep his memory alive and spend time doing what you enjoy and with those around you. I am sorry for your loss.

Condolences, that horrible news.. Being 51 now and retired my group of friends has dwindled to just my best mate who I’ve known since I was 16 and he was 18. When I started my first job in 1988 he was the guy who showed me around. We clicked immediately and speak very regular to this day.

Remember all the good times mate

Would you like to talk about your friend?

I am a month on from losing my best friend. It felt sudden but maybe it was to be expected.

I still catch myself now going to send her a message and have to correct myself.

It’s getting easier.
I’ve found talking about her has really helped. And being in touch with people who were close to her in her family has helped too.

Be gentle on yourself, and don’t be surprised if the grieving process hits you in different ways over the coming weeks.

Sorry for you loss
