Would anyone be able to recommend a gps tracker that can be potentially added to a key ring and linked to samsung phone so i can track if parent starts wandering

I have seen a few on amazon and others that need £25 /pm subscription just not sure what will be best so any advice greatly appreciated

thanks

No advice/experience re Trackers - but Apple Airtags work perhaps as an ad-interim solution ?

Also smaller / easier to attach to keys/jacket pockets etc.

Of course presumption on that the person has taken their jacket/keys with them etc.

I bought one of the Winnes no-subscription models from Amazon a couple of years ago. The rate of progress of the Dementia meant it was obsolete in a few months.

Worked well but not without issues; remembering to charge it, put it in Mum's handbag and then she started wandering without it.

Not because of dementia....wife and I have a tracker on our phones: Life 360. It enables us each to see where each other is in case of any incident etc. Life 360 has various subscription levels but we fine the free basis version is OK so far.

No Monthly Fee Options:

Tile Pro - Good battery life (1 year), works via Bluetooth and community finding network

Samsung SmartTag+ - Specifically designed for Samsung devices, uses Bluetooth and UWB for accurate location

Apple AirTag with Hermitage case - Works with Android via specialized apps though not as seamlessly as with iPhone

Our neighbour had this quandary and I'm fairly sure she got one FOC from a Dementia charity. It was a specialised bit of kit which didn't need to be in proximity of other devices - an AirTag is useless if the sufferer wanders into a forest for example.

AirTags also chime if moving but not near their paired phone, which might cause distress

Contact your local Social Services, they will help you out as they did for me for my wife, got me loads of kit, all free. Front door mat sensors, GPS, emergency button in your home etc, etc.

Get one of these from Vodafone. Should be a few pounds per month and work a treat. Had one for my father in law a few years back. Used it on a couple of occasions to track him down when he went out and got 'lost'. Very accurate mapping/location.

Thanks for the reminder - it was mentioned a few months back (by you?) but I forgot to check it out. It's now on both our phones and the free version looks just what we need.
